A little history of Santa Anita Park
The present racecourse opened in 1934 and quickly became a major stage for American racing. Its Art Deco grandstand and mountain backdrop are among the sport’s most recognisable settings.
What to look for in the form
Separate dirt, turf and downhill-turf evidence, and check whether a runner’s preferred pace pattern suits the configuration in use.
Fat Tony says: Track knowledge helps, but it never replaces current form. Compare today’s distance, surface, draw and likely pace before making a call.
